Gold Leaf Nameplates

yellow gold with flyspecks

One thing I’m often asked to make are museum quality gold leaf nameplates. They are primarily used for fine artist oil paintings and limited edition bronze sculptures.

My nameplates are each gilded with 23 karat gold leaf on hard wood plates. They can be antiqued (darkened), have added imitation fly specks added, or rubbed to show the bole color underneath. Other colors of gold such as moon gold (a warm white gold), lemon gold, white gold,  silver, or palladium can also be used. If you send a photo of the frame I can match the metal color. Each are handlettered with permanent black ink and sealed. For each artist or collector, we will work together to determine the ideal lettering style for the body of work or painting.

My precut sizes are 2 by ½″, 2 ½ by ½″,  3 by ⅝″, 3 ½ by ¾″,  4 by ¾″, 4 ½ by  ¾″, 5 by 1″, 6 by 1″ or 1 ½”, and 7 by 1″ or 1 ½″ with the decorative rounded ends. Additional shapes and sizes are at additional cost and may take an extra week or two.

The Artist

Haley grew up in a family with multiple siblings and pets in a central Texas city but always longed for a life the country on a working farm or ranch. At her mother’s urging, she attended art school and earned her BFA in Drawing/Printmaking from Washington University in St. Louis’ School of Art with  a minor in music (harp).

Haley continues to develop her talent and learn new skills by taking workshops and classes with well-known and accomplished calligraphers and artists. She offers original art pieces and accepts commissions to create 23k gold artist nameplates and calligraphic broadsides and books and occasionally teaches. Her work often reflects her love of God’s varied creation.

The artist enjoys living in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas on a small working ranch with her husband and two sons, and numerous pets and livestock.

She is a member of San Antonio Calligraphers’ GuildCapital City Scribes, and IAMPETH.
